Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance

PG-13 for fiery skulls, Faustian bargains, dubious motorcycle safety

Release Date: February 17, 2012

Yes, we could stoop down to this movie’s level, but let’s take the high road.

Let’s not loft a snarky eyebrow at the semi-religious, semi-coherent plot that this trailer recounts so urgently. Let’s not raise the possibility that Nicolas Cage is crying out for help, by accepting a fat paycheck to star in a terrible sequel as a character who, like the actor himself, has sold his soul. Let’s not even mourn the 75 million dollars who sacrificed their short green lives for such a tragic and pointless film.

Instead, let’s just pretend that this is a very loose film adaptation of the excellent 1990s PBS show Ghostwriter, and leave it at that.
